Requirements
Projects entered in this category must be located within 150 km of Parliament Hill on the Ontario side. Any project outside this radius, or not located in Ontario (for example, Gatineau), must be submitted under the Anywhere in the World category.
A Production Kitchen is defined as a standard kitchen design created for a tract or production home and intended to be constructed multiple times within a development. Any standard upgrade options offered through the builder's sales centre, such as cabinetry finishes, countertop selections, or appliance packages, are considered part of the production kitchen category. If a production kitchen has been significantly modified or customized at the request of an individual purchaser, it must instead be submitted in the Custom Kitchen category.
A Custom Kitchen is a one-of-a-kind, fully customized kitchen designed specifically for an individual client. These kitchens typically involve unique layouts, bespoke cabinetry, specialized materials, or tailored design solutions that are not intended to be replicated.
For all kitchen submissions, square footage is defined as the total floor area of the room in which the kitchen is located. Any integrated or adjacent spaces, such as an eating area, breakfast nook, food pantry, desk, or casual lounging area, are considered part of the kitchen and must be included in the overall square footage. When calculating square footage, entrants must extend the measurement three (3) feet beyond the outer edge of the kitchen countertops.
